Pete C Re: Empty SET Wed Sep 18 20:30:50 2002 203.141.89.177 Hi Armando Firstly, all that the EMPTY.SET does, is save you having to clear each and every "C bank" style - that is all!! It is useful if you want to build all your USER styles from scratch. Personally I prefer to build my USER styles from an existing (similar) style - this is a great time-saver. If you just want to build a "C bank" set of styles from USB CD, or style diskettes etc in order to have all your favorite styles in one SET, then you need to understand the "style block" limitations and also check the sizes of the styles you want to use. This is a bit messy, but you can end up with a great SET and utilize the i30 style RAM efficiently. Brief background: The i30 style memory is divided into 12 equal parts, called "blocks". Each block can hold up to 4 styles. So, to build a block containing 4 styles, the total size of those 4 styles MUST be able to fit in the block, otherwise you may only get 3 styles into the block (for example). Let me give you an example:- let's say you wanted to have the brilliant i3 Big Band style (from the i3 ROM styles). This is a superb style, but it takes up a complete block on the i30 - so you could load it as style C31 (i30 block 5), but then you have no block space left (block 5) and hence could not use C32, C33, C34. A tip here is that if you were creating your own brand new super style, you should always try and use as many "patterns" as possible (i.e. don't have repetative phrases in any of the style tracks unless that phrase is recorded in a pattern) - this will reduce the overall style size. One of the problems with importing non-i30 styles is that the style will be full expanded events with no patterns - hence much larger than really necessary in a lot of cases. i30 blocks are as follows: C11-C14 = block 1 C15-C18 = block 2 C21-C24 = block 3 C25-C28 = block 4 C31-C34 = block 5 C35-C38 = block 6 C41-C44 = block 7 C45-C48 = block 8 C51-C54 = block 9 C55-C58 = block 10 C61-C64 = block 11 C65-C68 = block 12 (Total 48 user styles) Hope this helps Cheers, Pete
